  • NMSU Domenici Institute invites student panelist applications for 2017 conference
    Feb. 14, 2017 – The 10th year of the Domenici Public Policy Conference kicks off with its annual call to university and community college students in New Mexico. New Mexico State University’s Domenici Institute for Public Policy is now accepting applications for the 20-person student panel charged with asking the tough questions of speakers at the conference. The conference is set for Sept. 13 and 14 at the Las Cruces Convention Center. Panelist applications are due April 27.
  • Doña Ana Wellness Institute to report on mental health initiatives at Domenici Institute Forum
    Oct. 24, 2016 – Reform is underway in Doña Ana County with the help of a collaborative of judicial, medical, law enforcement and other community stakeholders who comprise the Doña Ana Wellness Institute and the Stepping Up Partnership. On Nov. 3, these stakeholders will provide an update about their work and define specific policy and system priorities during a Domenici Institute Forum on the New Mexico State University campus in Las Cruces. Students and members of the public are encouraged to attend.

    Sept. 1, 2016 – At a September 2016 Domenici Institute Forum, New Mexico State University Chancellor Garrey Carruthers will moderate a panel discussion on agricultural policy and how it affects the economy in the border region. Panelists include Mexico’s Secretary of Agriculture, Jose Calzada Rovirosa, Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs of USDA Ed Avalos and New Mexico’s Secretary of Agriculture Jeff Witte.

  • Aging infrastructure, energy independence among topics at 2015 Domenici Conference
    July 27, 2015 – Speakers at the 2015 Domenici Public Policy Conference will discuss recent developments in four trending policy areas – the nation’s aging infrastructure, U.S. energy independence, regional economic development and Middle East policy. The event is set for Sept. 16 and 17 at the Las Cruces Convention Center, 680 E. University Ave.

  • NMSU breaks ground on future Pete V. Domenici Hall
    April 12, 2013 – New Mexico State University held a ceremony to officially break ground on a construction project that will transform the Hershel Zohn Theater into Pete V. Domenici Hall. Construction work will begin later this month and conclude in fall 2014.

  • Domenici Conference student panelists selected
    July 17, 2012 – Twenty university students from across the state have been chosen to take part in the 2012 Domenici Public Policy Conference, Sept. 19 and 20 at the Las Cruces Convention Center. The specially selected students from New Mexico State University, the University of New Mexico and Northern New Mexico College will be the only audience members allowed to ask questions of the various presenters at the Domenici Conference.

    July 10, 2012 – The man who helped engineer former President Bill Clinton’s winning campaign, James Carville, and a prominent adviser to former President George W. Bush, Ambassador Karen Hughes, will tackle the issues at the forefront of this fall’s national elections during the 2012 Domenici Public Policy Conference.

  • Third book in former Sen. Pete Domenici’s ‘Legacy’ Series now available
    July 14, 2011 – The latest installment in the award-winning “Senator Pete Domenici’s Legacy” book series is now on store shelves. The book chronicles the proceedings from the 2010 Pete V. Domenici Public Policy Conference, which took place at New Mexico State University’s Corbett Center. This year’s “Senator Pete Domenici’s Legacy” offers transcripts of presentations made by every speaker at the 2010 conference.

  • NMSU’s Domenici books honored at 2010 New Mexico Book Awards
    Jan. 27, 2011 – “Not Just New Mexico’s Senator,” written by Martin J. Janowski, won best political book at the 2010 New Mexico Book Awards. “Senator Pete Domenici’s Legacy; The Proceedings from the 2009 Pete V. Domenici Public Policy Conference,” edited by Vicki Taggart, was a finalist in the same category. Both books were published in collaboration with Rio Grande Books and New Mexico State University’s Domenici Institute.

  • Rove, Lockhart, Donaldson among guests for 2010 Domenici Public Policy Conference
    July 16, 2010 – Fox News contributor Karl Rove, political analyst and commentator Joe Lockhart and ABC News contributor Sam Donaldson are just a few of the speakers scheduled for the 2010 Domenici Public Policy Conference. They will join Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, former Sen. Sam Nunn, Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank President Thomas Hoenig and other guests Sept. 1-2 at New Mexico State University’s Corbett Center.

  • NMSU professor awarded for book on Domenici legacy
    Jan. 12, 2010 – The book “Senator Pete Domenici’s Legacy,” edited by New Mexico State University Professor Jon Hunner, has won the award for best anthology of 2009 by the New Mexico Book Awards.

  • NMSU honors Sen. Pete Domenici during basketball game
    Feb. 21, 2008 – New Mexico State University honored U.S. Sen. Pete Domenici by “retiring” a Domenici baseball jersey during halftime of the NMSU men’s basketball game Saturday, Feb. 23, at the Pan American Center.

  • NMSU Library Begins to Process Domenici Archives
    Jan. 31, 2008 – Nearly 2,000 boxes filled with documents and memorabilia chronicling the legacy of U.S. Senator Pete V. Domenici are now housed in the New Mexico State University Library. Additional boxes are expected to arrive at NMSU later this year as the university works to build the Domenici Archive collection.

  • NMSU announces Sen. Pete V. Domenici Legacy project
    Jan. 25, 2008 – New Mexico State University has established the Pete V. Domenici Legacy – a multifaceted effort to honor the senator’s impact on public policy and his contributions to the State of New Mexico and the country during his historic tenure in the U.S. Senate.
